Taco Tuesday: El Auténtico Pato Manila (CDMX)
In the mood for a Peking duck taco? We've got you covered
[Welcome to Taco Tuesday, where I write short articles about tacos, taco restaurants and other interesting tidbits on Mexican cuisine. Let's dig in.]
In the trendy Condesa neighborhood of Mexico City (CDMX), the tiny hole-in-the-wall El Auténtico Pato Manila restaurant serves up delicious Peking duck tacos, along with other Asian-flavored spins on traditional Mexican cuisine. Their signature Taco Kim and Taco Manila - 2 variations of duck tacos that they serve - are unique and delicious examples of the vast fusion food scene flourishing today in CDMX. I prefer the Tacos Kim, prepared with crunchy slices of cucumber and hoisin sauce. But the Tacos Manila - prepared with cilantro and beans - are also a great option. Fortunately, both tacos are small enough that you can try two of each!
The next time you're in the area, stop in at Culiacán 91 (it's sort of in a basement, beneath a fancier restaurant with a doorman) for street tacos with a Chinese flair.
