Interesting how we co-op "holidays" and turn them into drinking fests in the US. This, St. Patrick's Day. But then, in recent years I've become more attuned to the obsession our culture has with drinking in general.
Ha ha - this is interesting, as even I note when cinco de mayo comes around each year! And in fact I am going out friday to celebrate (that along with the full moon). Maybe I'm just stretching to find a reason to enjoy an evening with friends! Though hard kombucha is more my style now than beer. lol
Cinco de Mayo is Full Moon and there will be a Lunar Eclipse! Folks in North America will not be able to see it unless they drink sufficient Hard Kombucha. Funny enough, astrologists have me convinced it is a day of letting go (aka Detox) on several levels! Maybe Hard Kombucha will help us do just that.
The astrologist's suggestions:
FIND MYSTERY Me: Yes!
QUESTION ROMANTIC NOTIONS Me: Oh noooooooo
DETOX/DECLUTTER Me: been at it for two years
RELEASE Me: Sure... How about ten pounds?
HEALTH WELCOME: Me: Hmmmm....I am starting to see a pattern
REBIRTH / TRANSFORMATION Me: No! I'm not ready to die. Transformation, YES!
TAKE A QUANTUM LEAP Me: Beam me up!
But I digress. Thank you, Mike, for raising our international cultural awareness.
I had no idea. It's not big here in Puerto Rico, but I certainly know of it from living on mainland US before. Many folks do love a Mariachi band here, any excuse to dance and have a beer or two with friends is pretty welcome, and that is the only way I have seen it celebrated here. Now I'm wondering how many holidays are just big ad campaigns?
I always forget about 5 de mayo. Big Beer doesn't like me, I suppose. Maybe Small Beer? Can we have a coffee holiday? Oh, wait, that's every day around here.. Fun article Mike, thanks!!

I'll drink to that! 😝

Enjoy your evening out with friends! I'm sorry, though, about you having to drink mushroom water 🍄

Ha! I think Valentines Day is somewhat market-driven.

Thanks Victor. I would like a coffee holiday where my wife doesn't tell me about how coffee is bad for me 😁
Fascinating history. .Read my thanks below
