When a coup was staged but he's still honored in every city, you can tell exactly who he served. He may not have been a great politician, but I wish there were more who truly served the people.

Indeed. I find the whole Madero story quite inspirational (obviously), and the world needs more leaders with his kind of focus and mindset.

So lovely to read a story/history of integrity and conviction. I knew the name but not the history, thank you!

I suppose that's part of the reason that his story resonates with me - he didn't fit the mold. And speaking of mold, I need to clean out the refrigerator!

As soon as I read that Madero entered Nov 20, but turned around, I was wondering why that date is the celebrated one, but I guess it makes okay sense.

Yes, those who aren't politicians don't fare well in that environment. I can relate. Some folks (like Madero) don't have the required duplicity. Wouldn't it be something if politicians were upright and filled with integrity? And may I have a unicorn for my birthday?

Great article, Mike. I look forward to the next part!

Politics is best left to the politicians; or is it that the politicians have ruined politics? Either way, I've ordered your unicorn...

Such a romantic history, Mexico has. Philosophers, readers of the Bhagavad Gita, ascetics of sorts. I knew nothing of Madero before your post. Thanks for the in-depth history.
